Oh they killed it at Hardhome! Agreed they didn't fight so well here on a much more favorable terrain. You know what I thought was funny - ALL of my favorite characters were on this stupid quest (Jorah, the Hound, Berric, Tormund) and I figured someone was dying. Sorry to se it was Throros - but when they ventured beyond the wall with a handful of other fighters - I felt like I was watching an old Star Trek episode - where Kirk would beam down to the planet with a security detail of extras just so they could be killed off. There was never any mention of Dragon Glass this episode - they were swinging War Hammers. And to answer you question Slaves - because it would of made sense. Haha that would of been awesome! Spot on observation again - kill them all with ice javelins then turn them to Wights... But honestly the characters couldn't like that - the GOT community would lose it... I'm just thankful I didn't have to see the Three Eyed raven this episode. Yonkers if you want an example of piss poor writing - How about if the whole reason Jon Snow risks it all to go to Dragonstone is to get "Dragon Glass" - how about he brings some of it with him to fight the Walkers? Come on - I love this show - but the whole plan of capturing a White Walker is pathetic... Although I enjoyed the episode - I am more then a little upset with the writing this season. And what Goon said about Benjen is spot on - he shows up just for 30 seconds and it's the perfect 30 seconds. I'm also pissed that Thoros died in his sleep - he was a great character. Yonkers - I was born there by the way! "I think Sister Cathy's family deserves that..". Agreed! If some Police Officer opened this case and looked at the DNA evidence, exhumed a body or two they could at least cross suspects off the list. But then again a cigarette just lying on the ground near the body could belong to anyone not necessarily the killer. Perhaps that is why no one pursued it. It would be nice to see if some internet sleuths or a new witness comes forward to help solve this case. Actually the Baltimore PD had a piece of evidence (Cigarettes I think) with DNA on it - and the FBI had DNA and Fingerprints that they haven't even checked yet. So there is more work to be done, more clues and leads to follow. The problem is this is an OLD case and most of the suspects are dead - you would have to excavate their bodies to look into this... So sad this investigation was cleared up long ago. I agree the series was excellent! People what are you on - I thought that was the most gruesome ending to a main character I've ever seen. He was tied and bagged and pulled under the entire length of the boat, banging and mangling his body against rock hard barnacles. Imagine your flesh being violently ground against a jagged cheese grater - Black Beard had it ten fold worse! And he survived it like 4 times - the man wouldn't die! He just lifts his chewed up face and spits at Rogers feet. Come on that was bad ass! That scene also shows that Rogers is a force the be reckoned with! I agree with the posters who thought it was lame that Rackham surrenders the boat when he has the total advantage but I think Black Beard's fate was fitting a legend! I really enjoyed this show but thought the final episode was a bit of a let down. Especially the finale 30 minutes where everything was wrapped up so neatly. I mean everyone gets a happy ending except Woodes Rogers, how cliche. I also never bought Captain Flint was gay, although there's nothing wrong with that. I think my favorite character by the end of the show was Billy Bones, I prefer the tragic hero and his character had quite the arc. He starts off as the noble boat hand (if you can call a Pirate noble), discovers who Flint really is... His character loses his innocence as he discovers Flint is out for only himself and his personal vendetta with England. But with few other options he follows Flint anyway - he is eventually betrayed by him. He then befriends Silver and creates the "Long John Silver Myth", organizes a rebellion and becomes a Pirate Leader in his own right. But he is betrayed yet again but this time by Silver. So he plays the only card he has left and joins Rogers in the pursuit of the two men he helped create. Now that is an "Character Arc" and that is good writing. He truly is the ONLY "Tragic Hero" of the lot. Where I could argue every other main character was truly only out for their own interests from their first episode to the their last. Billy Bones was different. Don't get me wrong I thought the show was really good a little dialogue heavy at times but still an enjoyable view. I'd give it a solid B+. What would I give an A you ask = Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Rome, Deadwood and I'm sure a few others. I really enjoyed this show but thought the final episode was a bit of a let down.
