87% on RT so far. Hopefully, it does well in the BO.
Man of Steel by far.
It's not great by anymeans, but it's the best Superman film since Superman 2. Superman Returns is just terrible and boring. One of the worst comic films ever made imo.
I don't think it will flop. Tickets are being sold out in the UK already. However, It definitely won't make Endgame numbers due to theatres being capped at 50% capacity, so the numbers will obviously be lower regardless.
Also, I don't think Corona will be much of a deterrent either. People flocked to bars, restaurants, and beaches when they opened up. I'm sure that movie theatres will be no exception. The only thing that may hurt it is the mask mandates. Some people may not to suffocate in a mask for 3 hours watching a film, so they'll opt to wait for home release instead.
Tickets are $5 a piece according to the website which sounds fair.
I haven't been myself, but I'd love to be able to see Empire Strikes Back in a theatre considering I wasn't alive then lol.
Movie theatres are open in my area, but they're only playing old films at the moment.
They're playing the Jurassic Park, Star Wars, and Harry Potter films along with other classics like Back to the Future.
Nope. No Disney+ in China. That's why it's being released in theatres in countries without Disney + and not the US.
It remains to be seen if Tenet will makes it's release date. I can see that being pushed back again as well. Hell, I'd be surprised if theatres even open up at all for the rest of the year.
Disney is taking a big gamble here. They should've delayed to next year.
If it fails then they risk losing hundreds of millions of dollars.
To break even with the $200 million dollar budget at least 7 million people will need to rent the film at the $30 price tag.
Don't see that happening. Even sports pay-per-views don't get such buy rates at a similar price.
Also, an HD copy will be leaked day of release. This will pirated to hell like you said.
The only thing I can see saving it is foreign box office, but that remains to be seen.
True, but Netflix doesn't charge $30 per rental to watch their movies. Just a single monthly subscription and that's it.
Disney wants people to subscribe to Disney+ AND pay an extra fee on top of that.
If this becomes the norm then streaming will cost way more than the theatre in the long run.
I really hope theatres survive this crisis. It's going to really suck if you have to pay such fees because theatres are closed down forever.
Not to mention the theatrical experience is much more enjoyable than watching a film on a tiny TV or tablet
True, but it still opens the door for major piracy.
HD copies of films don't usually leak until a few weeks or even months after the theatrical debut.
I can see a HD copy of this leaking the day of release, and Disney will lose tons of money as a result.
I just don't see a streaming/VOD option working out in the long run. Most of these kinds of films cost 100-200 million to produce, and streaming alone cannot generate such revenue.
A low budget flick that costs $20 million could likely succeed on streaming, but not a $200 million flick like this.
$30? Lol. That's 3x the price of a movie ticket. People will pirate this before paying such a price for a rental.
I can understand paying $30 for a Blu Ray or digital copy, but a rental? That's overkill.
I just hope WB doesn't put Tenet on streaming. I really want to see that in theatres.
It's ok. It has some good moments. If you can ignore Jar Jar and Anakin's acting then it's not too bad.
Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor were great jedi, and the musical score by John Williams was excellent.
The duel with Darth Maul is still the best fight scene in the saga to date imo.
I also enjoy Revenge of the Sith as well. I like that more than Return of the Jedi and the Disney Saga.
The only prequel i really dislike is Episode II. The Geonosis arena battle was the only good thing in that.
It'll now open internationally Aug 27 and a limited US release on Sep 3rd in select locations.

Really? Doesn't suprise me. They ruined Yahoo Answers a few years ago with crappy changes, and I started using Quora instead. Guess I'll just use Youtube for news commenting now (unless they get rid of that too).
I hope it doesn't get delayed for another year. It says "a new 2020 release" so maybe it won't be so long.
If it's released online everyone will pirate it. Also, the budget is $200 million. This isn't exactly some cheap investment by WB. A direct-to-video flick with a low budget may be successful on digital VOD, but not an expensive blockbuster like this.
I think a lack of competition will help it.
There's not going to be a ton of films playing at this time.
The only other major release will be Mulan, and then nothing else until No Time to Die, Wonder Woman, and Black Widow in November. The film will likely have a longer play period in theatres too.
If it holds a steady release for 3-4 months it should be able to at least break even with its budget even if ticket sales are down.
I'm not worried personally. I always to the movies on a weekday anyways. There's maybe 5-10 people max in the theatre at that time.
Very low chance of transmission, plus less texters and annoying people.
David Fincher- Alien 3 to Se7en.
James Cameron - Piranha 2 to The Terminator.
Don't worry. They'll explain all stuff in future books/comics! (books that 99% of people don't read anyways)
There's no need to just simply explain all that stuff in the movie itself (*sarcasm).
