I thought it made sense, he's numb to everything that's happened on top of just losing Xavier. If you walked into a room to find your Father amongst strangers slaughtered, I don't think you're particularly going to be giving those strangers your share of undivided attention and emotion. Especially considering that thing that slaughtered them is there and about to make the same of you.
