What I said and what you replied seem to be 2 different conversations.
Let me rephrase.
This show is named "For your approval".
She even says during the show that her entire career, whatever she's done, the ellen show, stand-up, movies, tv shows, she has done for people's approval. She also says during the show that she doesnt care anymore (about people's approval). And she mentions therapy.
I suspect that this is some therapy thing she's doing for herself to get closure with what happened. And she added in between a few chicken jokes and sold it to netflix as a comedy show. But it isnt. It's some kind of public interview on a stage, intertwined with unfunny chicken jokes. She knows whats funny and what isnt. Her 40 year career has taught her that. If she wanted to spin mindless jokes she couldve. And she wouldnt have mentioned therapy, her mom, the be kind thing, and doing things for the audience's approval.
Yes. Because those were built as comedy shows. Because she was trying to make it as a comedic stand up and have a career. This felt like something personal, done for herself, in order for her to have closure. Thats my theory anyway. The show is called For your approval. Meaning everything she's done up til that point was for our approval, for us to laugh, for us to appreciate her. She addressed this in the special. So it wasnt Ellen trying to be funny for our approval this time. It was her explaining something to the public in her own comedic way and the public not getting it because it wasnt funny. And it wasnt funny cause it wasnt built to be funny, it was built to bring closure. You know as well as I do that if Ellen wants to build something to be funny she does it with excellence.
Third Watch, The Shield and Rescue Me (this one is with firefighters but it's written and filmed in a similar way)
Oh your argument was delicious! Shonda Rhimes goes on to do 20 seasons with Greys spewing crap on repeat, drama, everyone shares a baby with everyone now and everyone has had affairs with everyone else by now, 3-4 rounds of new interns later and the whole show became a recycled story. This show shouldve been going on for 10 seasons easy.
And the formula cop shows are ridiculous. Episode start: somebody died, detectives at the scene - working the case - obstacles - sudden realisation: "I know who killed him!" and then running for the suspect, catching him or killing him, explaining some backstory - the end. Next episode, same formula.
This show + Third Watch + Rescue Me + The Shield are shows that were written by smart, talented people, good writers, dedicated people and everything stands out with them.
And here we have NCIS season 3928.
This goes on to reflect the average IQ of the viewers.
I know, I feel like I lost all respect for him too after reading his book. The Die Hard Fans of Friends group on facebook was all high praise on his book and I kept silent cause in my opinion he was all a swing and a miss, every time. He may have been a good soul but his choices reflected very poorly on his true character. It was all Pick the easy way. And believe me, it makes me angry that after his colon burst, being on ECMO, having 2% chances of living through the night, writing a book, starting fresh, having a tour... he relapsed with ketamine. He's been given so many chances to make it right, how do you put anything into yourself after SO many near death experiences??
No, its a doc about her life now. It also shows moments from the past, concerts, intrviews, etc
We all age. I dont even know if she s had work done. Regardless, how one ages is not their fault. And a class act like her is a class act at any age.
90% of it, not so much - the last 10% very.
I think they explore the possibility with Buck. Remember his flashbacks of working as a bartender all over the place?
He seems to be the most open to relationships regardless of the partner s sex.
Nah, they were friends, just not the kind of close friends we see in the show. They were close when they met in different occasions but each to their own lives afterwards.
