We can't even make a film about the American countryside in America anymore?

Supposedly they are in Scoharie County, Mohawk Valley, New York.

They talk about how it would be crazy to move as far west as Ohio, but it's 1856. People are already as far west as Illinois, including Abraham Lincoln, who in four years will run for president.

Lots of things here don't seem to make sense.

The director is from some sort of foreign country , many of the actors are from the country of London so its basically a foreign production. Also Romania is cheap. Its like the Mexico of Europe.
