Season 2, what a let down

There were a couple of seriously impressive CGI ones (Life Hutch and Snow in the Desert) and the animation in The Tall Grass was pretty interesting but the rest, meh. S1 was much stronger.

S1 had more than twice the episodes, though, so they had more chances to get it right.

S2 was pretty good, I thought, and I really loved The Drowned Giant, All Through the House, and Pop Squad.

The only one that was a letdown, for me, was Life Hutch. You're right: the CG was impressive, but the story wasn't.

Yeah, to be fair, I did like All Through The House. The Drowned Giant was OK I guess. I did find it odd the cars had yellow front number plates when they should be white though. But then again it's an alternative world where giants exist lol. Another thing that I found strange was the casual interest in a washed up, dead giant. If that happened in our world, people would travel from all over the planet to check it out. It would be swarmed by us like ants on a discarded lolly. Flood lights setup all night etc.

I guess I was hoping for another The Witness. I'm still in awe at that masterpiece.

The Witness was really brilliant. S1 I loved that one, Zima Blue, Fish Night, and Good Hunting the best, although the only one I didn't like out of that batch was Blindspot. It was okay, but not great.

I know what you mean with the strange response to the eponymous Drowned Giant - there would have been quarantine barriers, cops, government guys, etc., guarding it. Plus, way more people would have swarmed it constantly. The ideas being laid down in that strange tale, though, were so wonderful and engrossing that I found the whole rumination on humanity to be captivating. The main character's interactions with the giant made the story interesting even without the thriller elements that pump through the veins of the other LD+R episodes. It was the kind of gentle, fantasy storytelling that is employed by people like Miyazaki, and while it might not be on quite that level, I was moved by that piece and I really liked it for its uniqueness and creativity, as well as for its little touches like the tide pool in the palm of the hand or the solar plexus sandcastle.

100% agree. Some fairly ... meh ... story telling. The Tall Grass in particular reminded me of this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMZONL8x8NE

Guy's on a train. Train stops. Guy ignores conductor's not-at-all-strong-enough warnings not to wander. Gets attacked by... something... (who/what are they? what's their story? where are they from? so many questions) and is saved at the last minute by the conductor. The end.
