If you are not clueful about the Internet and fake news, fake accounts, fake stories, media manipulation .. this will give you a movie-land idea the general gist of why the world is so f-ed up as far as why democracies are starting to break apart and fall - to tyranny.
They say the people who are trying to save America are the haters, the non-violent "Lefties", but the fact is that those who threaten it are so clever as to be able to use these tools to flip realities around and make it look like there are fake crowds that agree and follow these crazy theories.
The clever part of the movie is that it takes place in Eastern Europe so we are not disturbed by the images and associations that would be provocative if it was done in America.
Just for what it tries to do I'd have to rate it 10/10 for effort.
Definitely signs of intelligent moviemaking outside America ... at a time when we do not see much of it inside America.

The end of them movie was pretty nihilistic and bleak, unnecessarily so, and after the first half it doesn't really tell you anything about what goes on in the Internet troll farms.
This movie does not take place outside of America for that reason. The film has some direct connections to Suicide Room, another great movie by Jan Komasa. It's obvious I liked the coldness and visceral tone this director has shown so far. I might check his other recent movies after finishing this...
I ended up changing my review/rating after seeing the full movie. The movie really went nowhere after the first half, and just not nihilistic, bleak and violent - without any real point.
Yes the movie is bleak and pointless, just like all other Eastern Europe films for that matter. Even Suicide Room is that much of a waste of money, resources and my own time. I might stick to films like that one with Matt Damon playing the gay-ass conman. Much better watch than Suicide Room, where the lead is "gay" all the same.
And don't even think of watching The Bothersome Man, you might get overwhelmed with that much bleakness, pointlessness, and non-americaness... ;)
I can't imagine where are you from, it could be any Americanized country in the world.
However, it seems that they don't have sarcasm over there...
...Not even modern Internet as you can't understand how I use emojis... ;)
So my friend, I can't help but ask myself:
How can you rate a movie you haven't finished watching? Also, can that second review contradict what you said before without coming across as disingenuous?
The point of the movie wasn't showing what happens on troll farms. These movies are always character-driven. This one in particular completely rests on the lead's shoulders.
I can get you don't like what was showed on screen, but the point was clear from the beginning: character exposition and what this pretty unlikable character is capable of doing to others because of the incredible hatred that drives him. That's the point of the movie.
And yes, I liked all the performances in this. And you don't have to. But don't throw around words like nihilistic, bleak and unnecessary if you don't really know when to use them.
Maybe you are commenting from a troll farm? Who knows.
Nowadays it seems like throwing shade at something is more effective on people's opinions than just telling them to take everything with a pinch of salt. Do the latter. Don't be a hater.
Let go of your rigid thinking process. Of course I can "provisionally" rate a movie I am watching. A lot of movies are really great in the set-up phase and then completely blow it in the delivery.
I liked the dramatization of the troll farms. Same thing in the last two, or was it three seasons of "Homeland". It shows Americans what it going on in away the media and movies do not. Americans are being manipulated, like this, and this movie happens to be the movie that I have seen that best shows that very well.
And, if I was a troll I would not want to see that, so you happen to be more troll-motivated than I.
If I did not know what nihilistic meant I either would not have used it, or would have right-clicked on it and looked it up. Saying that makes you a candidate for the ignore trash can, and I bet you will get worse on your next rude comment and will end up there anyway.
Wow, you really lost traction there pal. Are you sure I said you don't know what those words mean? You should re-read my comment. Also, I don't have a rigid thinking process. You said you liked the movie because "it was about troll farms" just like Homeland. Well, now that's rigid. You'll see where I'm coming from...
I urge you to watch more Eastern European films, you are missing the context of this movie in particular and the whole point of their characteristically extended (and recurrent) character exposition. It's also great cinema, with strong Drama roots. Please, you don't know what you are missing!
Maybe you watched it dubbed and didn't recognize where it was set? (I don't even know if an English dub is availlable for this one).
Also, why are you only replying to the parts where I pointed out your word choice? You did in fact contradict yourself after watching the other 3/5s of the movie and missed the whole point. And after that you dismissed it completely. That's the real problem here buddy.
You see, it's far too common for people in the U.S. to watch too much AV content at the same time. Here are some things can happen with this approach:
1. The whole point of some movies may get over people's heads because of expectations.
2. They may think the point of some movies is the same as similar ones released recently.
3. They may not understand foreign films or any films with "odd" directing styles. They get accustomed to one style of film or the Hollywood format. This one may be the saddest of them all. People miss so much good art.
Also pal, that thing you have with threatening to ignore people who don't love your (very common and unhealthy) approach to movies... It is something you do? Don't you think that's ruder than sarcasm?
You actually threatened me because I pointed out you used those words carelessly, not because I said you where a simpleton, which I should stress I didn't.
TLDR: Watch more "foreign" films (foreign as in Hollywood=center of the world, you know typical bs people believe ).
Pretty sure I was watching foreign movies before you were born.

Just some I can think of, I could go on and on an on ...
The point though is that I made a comment, and you replied.
You said ... first comment "It's obvious I liked the coldness and visceral tone this director has shown so far".
How is that obvious. It is non-responsive and obtuse towards my original comment, and you have continued that tone onward.
It's like you do not have an idea of how to have a conversation or even how to express something, so you replace it with being annoying.
I suggested you check yourself, and you tell me you were being sarcastic, which there is no signs of, or call for. Something not right with you, and if you cannot have a conversation, or put it right, why wouldn't I just put you on ignore. I don't want to waste my time or be annoyed by you if you cannot have a pleasant conversation about THIS movie, not all the other movies you seem to think your opinion on is obvious.
So according to this guy filmmakers from Poland set their movie in Poland as a wink to americans... it's amazing how the imagination of the self centered works... keep on trucking
It was an interesting movie, as you can see if you read my review, I initially, based on content rated it a 10/10, the ending detracted from that big time.
