A drama, not a horror movie...kind of an...inadvertent Christian movie? Good movie if you want a slow-paced drama.
I was expecting a suspenseful supernatural horror film and this film is put in the horror genre on Netflix. And it appears as though the film is building towards that for awhile. But nothing like that happens. The film took forever to make a point. I kept waiting for anything interesting or mysterious to happen, which it did not.
A teen romance sideplot makes it almost feel like a Christian film at times in that it seemed as though it was trying to make a point about some moms and teens' view of casual premarital sex as bad or something, or maybe it was just an honest portrayal of the people like that. That's not bad in and of itself but it leaves the romance with nowhere to go. Yet it ends up almost feeling like it was the main plot because nothing much else happens, and that sort of sub-plot is likely to mainly appeal to Christian audiences.
If this film had been marketed more clearly as a drama, my expectations would have been different. In that sense, it is a pleasant film with a nice message. But a very slow one. I probably wouldn't have watched it if I'd have known. But if your expectation is a slow-moving drama, you will like it.
