Well, if you like the trailer...

The movie is kinda like that. Of course the trailer, naturally, moves along at a spritely pace. The problem with the actual film is that everything about it is slow and muddled. It is fun to see the stop motion work but most of those sequences are rather labored and slow. And in between them there is a lot of muddled exposition by characters who are at best not very interesting.

I would like to really care about the film, but it just is not that good. Even the score by Richar Band is just OK. Band has the unfortunate superpower of being able to make a decent sized orchestra sound like synthesizers. Maybe it's in the mix. Anyway, I was thinking of the incredible music that John Morgan wrote back in 1982 for a crappy film like Aftermath. That's the sort of thing they needed.
