1. Why 1899 for the simulation? What’s the significance of that year?
- In the final episode, the date was 2099. I figure they set the simulation 200 years earlier to match with the steamship.
2. So besides the main characters, all others are just simulated?
- They showed many the population of the 2099 Prometheus to be just over 1,400, matching the number on the steamship. The others are probably real and in suspended animation in other parts of the spaceship.
3. Couldn’t they have wrapped this up in one season? It seems setup for a second season but I bet the intrigue wears off.
- I Agree, I think the premise will wear thin like Westworld did for me. Too much mystery too fast.
The others are probably real and in suspended animation in other parts of the spaceship.
I thought that but then I wondered what the odds would be that all the main characters just so happened to be in that particular part of the spaceship?

I suspect there are meant to be - When we got that view that pulled back from the window to reveal the ship that certainly seemed to be the case.
But that's basically what I was saying - If all the crew were real people, taking part in the simulation from various pods all over the ship, why would all the main characters (and all of the survivors (I think))) be in that particular one? The odds would be incredible.
But anyway it would only really be incredible if that was the true reality. It's more than likely just another level of simulation, so maybe these are the only real people and the others are again AIs.
