I interpret it as someone who is just taking a lazy way out of a homework assignment and rattling off a bunch of problems to Eliza without using any sort of brain process to calculate anything. A quick and easy way out

Kids are worse at that. You dont think, you just do or you just speak. Thats how I see it.
Overall I find the writing pretty much on target. In TV, writing i becoming a lost art.
The attitude is why hire a writer when you can simply show people acting stupid. I have stopped watching most TV anymore and that is part of the reason.
I want to see intelligently written thought provoking stories. Im not going to dissect each piece to look for a flaw.
Again I dont see it as a flaw. i see it as human nature particularly from a kid.
