Second to last scene [Spoilers]

Between Jesse and Walt. Just seemed too out of character. Around the time of this flashback, Walt was a grumpy asshole and Jesse was extremely wired and defiant. There weren't too many times (if that) where Walt cared that much about Jesse's welfare to even suggest something like school. Whenever he did stick his neck out for Jessie it was for his benefit. On top of this, Paul trying to recapture Jesse's early behavior seemed a little too forced. Despite the fact that this is a flashback, he seemed like he couldn't shake the now-mellow attitude he has in the present. It's almost as if both of them had a hard time getting into character after all these years.

I felt the same but...

It was so good seeing them together again, that I didn't even give it a second thought. Guess they didn't want it to be a scene in which they have a heated debate or anything like that. Just casual conversation, for old time's sake.

That scene was right after the time they had to make a battery to start the RV and they almost died in the desert. Also was supposed to be the end of their cooking days. Walt had accepted he would not live long enough to see the money, so Jesse promised he would make sure his family gets it. It's like an alternate end to the show, if the show ended a few years earlier.

Do you know what season and episode it was ... I'd like to go back the check and refresh my memory as to what was going on.

The episode was called Four Days Out, season 2 episode 9

I thought that to when I saw the scene ... but remember
that Jessie is looking back on the good times in a good
light ... that was the reason for that scene. It is not a flashback,
it was a memory, clouded by the present - doesn't that make
more sense?

Yeah it actually does. I guess we could say the same with the scene with Jane. Now that I think of it, you could also say this with the first scene with Mike. Nice take.

After all the night before he was hating Walt so much that he was ready to kill him - or just hated him so much that he refused to put him out of his misery - even worse. Jessie then has time to realize that Walt came back to try to put things right and he died doing it. In his own way at times Walt liked Jessie, but he was like a wayward kid rejecting all discipline and without direction or taking anything seriously. Jessie grew up in this episode ... a hard fucking childhood, but that is why this was a valid epilogue to Breaking Bad to me ... it showed at least a bit of hope and light at the end of all that bleak and hate and murder and death.

In his own way at times Walt liked Jessie

I'm just not sure I can agree with this. Every time he stuck his neck out for Jesse it was in Walt's best interest. The one example off the top my head was when he had Gus fire Gale. This was only to ensure Jesse wouldn't strike out on his how selling meth, eventually get caught, and selling out Walt. I think the two times he did something for Jesse out of the kindness of his own heart was in the finale and getting revenge on Tuco for beating Jesse to a pulp while throwing an extra $15K for his, "pain and suffering". Even then though I think that was Walt's moral compass.

Walt shamelessly manipulated and used Jessie, that's true, but still he went back for Jessie ... unless I am not remembering the finale as well as I think. Also, it is damn hard to maintain patience and try to care for or help someone who constantly screws up and is so stupid.
