Megalodon is way better and cooler title. And people who like Shark movies - will know its monster movie. While people see Meg and think its some movie about girl named Megan. I never understand it back when first movie came out.
Its like instead of Jaws calling movie Rich or Gwen. Or Sha.
Because it's named after a series of Novels by Steve Alten of the same name.. In other news, this movie is a HUGE success Globally which bodes well for the MEG III when the time comes..

It is a truth universally acknowledged: People love giant sharks.
That article is hugely misleading. Those numbers may be good for movie with a budget of 50-60 millions. But Meg 2 has a budget of $129 - $139 million. And additionally many millions was spend of promotion.
But it made only 74 millions ar domestic.

Plus 278 millions international. Those numbers save it from being called flop. But it hugely under performed compared to first movie. And out of those 278 - 110 millions came from China. And China only gives back to American studios around 1/3 of their grosses. So studio got like 35 millions out of China. And anywhere outside of USA local theaters give away to American studio around half the money movie made. So out of those 168 millions - around 84 millions came back to studio.
So at best Meg 2 made back around 74 + 35 + 84 = 193 millions. On a budget of $129 - $139 million. And who knows what was spend on promotion.
Sites like to throw those numbers with no ecplanation and $352 millions worldwide sounds like a cute number. But its hugely misleading because its not the amount of money that studio who made it will receive.
I really doubt that Meg 3 will happen. Because Meg 2 barely not flopped and could actually lose some money for studio.
Meg 1 had same budget of 130 millions and made 145 millions at domestic box office plus 381 overseas for 527 worldwide. That movie made money for studio. Meg 2 didnt.
MEG III is happening so get used to it, not to mention, it hasn't even been released in Japan yet
