"Banned Book List" is misleading. There have always been, and still are, some books that, in some places, have been determined to be inappropriate for children. In some places, some of those books are not included in school libraries, or children's sections of public libraries, or their availability to children is restricted according to age or parental consent. Those books have always been available for private purchase in book stores, or in later years, via the internet. Monitoring and sometimes restricting what children of a certain age have access to is rational. "Banned Book List" ridiculously suggests sneering, brown-shirted Nazis dumping wheelbarrowloads of beloved classics on a bonfire.

That being said, restricting access to Judy Blume books is stupid.

I agree that Judy Blume books should be in school libraries. But maybe I'm biased because they were very popular when I was growing up, and I loved this book.

But, seriously, school libraries only have so much space. Decisions have to be made, and not every book is going to make the cut. It gets a bit annoying hearing people complain about the "Banned Book List" (as if there actually is one list). No one is going to be prevented from purchasing a book online or requesting it through inter library loan. That's just silly!

An Arthur book was banned because it contained a game of spin the bottle at a birthday party and this book and movie contain that and more.
