the only thing I'm not getting is how

Say this was Michael Myers on one of his famous Halloween night killing sprees and is finally caught. I could understand the cult like following committing murders for him and whatnot, but exactly how did this following start for Trick? He's just a kid that killed some classmates and all of a sudden the doctor just says "whoa I like that" and lets him go? Then the EMT sees him fall out of the window, smash into the pavement, get up, and run away and he just thinks that so cool that he's a follower now? Now I know we have this information that he uses a false address with the school and has no parents and all that. So did this following already exist and I just missed that titbit? There are just too many pieces of this that aren't cleared up.
