Looked promising but it's was a complete waste

The concept is good. And the first 2-3 episodes are actually not bad. But it just falls apart afterwards. It's a mess. The story just meanders about. There's no focus & there's no endgame in sight.

Just seemed like characters doing things & stuff happening. Without any sort of coherence. And it also looked cheap as hell. It's an HBO show but it felt like I was watching a Syfy show.

The best part about the show was the opening theme song. I can't say that I'm looking forward to season 2.

I watched it all too, it started out okay but the last few episodes were really bad with the pregnant android, I liked some of the performances but I doubt I’ll let season 2 steal my time.

I feel the same way. First two episodes were definitely great. Started off strong. Then it started going into many directions and giving more questions than answers most likely setting it up for season 2. Too bad Scott was not directing the whole season. I still will be checking out season 2. At least one episode to satisfy my curiosity. And I have to disagree with the OP. The show no way feels cheap and nowhere close to Syfy channel quality. The only moment when cgi felt cheap to me was at one shot of the serpent at the very end of the season when it was slithering inside the ship.

I honestly haven't even bothered with it. The last few episodes of the first season felt like such a chore to finish that I just lost any desire to continue with it

I guess we have to look at it as some 50s pulpy sci-fi b-movie. It is more digestible this way than taking it too seriously.

I agree. I wanted to like it. I liked the premise, the design, the opening, but then it just feels incredibly meh. One thing that occurred to me is that there's very little in the way of charisma from the actors/characters. Everyone is so bland and they almost all seem annoyed to be there (the actors I mean.) If you're going to have a kind of drab, monotonous setting then the characters can't also feel drab and monotonous. The story itself, the bigger plot, feels so far away and nothing about the new episode makes me feel differently. I sense another 9 hours of people wandering around meaninglessly.

reply

Omg, yes. There are entire episodes where nothing happens. Just aimlessly meandering about.

I feel like it's trying too hard to be a "thinking man's sci-fi". It's just so darn bland

The show is getting more non-sensical and weird by the minute. Seems that the budget got reduced after the first season flopped, but I could live with the 90s level of CGI as long as they keep the WTF moments coming.
