I didn't enjoy this, unfortunately (spoilers)

There are bad TV shows, good TV shows and great TV shows. Then there are TV shows which are so artistic, so original and so bonkers that they’re pure cult viewing. They’re few and far between, but you can’t miss them. Patrick McGoohan and George Markstein’s classic show ‘The Prisoner’ was one of them, subverting standard spy thrillers by presenting a psychological drama about the nature of individuality. ‘Twin Peaks’ was another, even more so when it returned, proving that David Lynch’s creative streak still defies logical explanation.

More recently there has been Noah Hawley’s ‘Legion’, Jeremy Carver’s ‘Doom Patrol’ and Damon Lindelof‘s ‘Watchmen’, which are as far from traditional superhero shows as you can get. With mind-bending scripts offering lectures on the fragile nature of the human psyche – and reality itself – these series tested the limits of the viewer’s mind. Visually stunning and backed by incredible soundtracks, watching them is like crashing through a funhouse mirror in an art gallery while on an acid trip. In a good way, of course.

Then we have ‘WandaVision’... which broadly imitates all of those things, but is ultimately just weightless, disposable meme fodder to lead fans into the 28th film in the MCU franchise. It will probably win half a dozen Emmys for Disney in 2021.

I agree. WandaVision seems to think it’s more clever than it actually is. I just finished the first season, and it’s like the producers of the show think the series can be a tool for “hip” professors to teach the evolution of narrative comedy television to college students. It’s like the series has the shell of a “cult” TV show but it’s just hollow inside.

Nominated for 23 Awards but unfortunately, and in my estimation sadly, WandaVision only garnered three statues.

Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes
Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Program (Half-Hour)
Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for the catchy “Agatha All Along” at the Creative Arts Emmys

Both Kathryn Hahn and Elizabeth Olsen were both outstanding in their roles as Agatha and Wanda.

The series was quite clever but fans requiring whipping themselves into unrequited fan service delusions may have earned the show a feeling of being NOT ambitious enough.
