Just wondering, why Rambeau? Is there any connection to John J Rambo?

But I am. Not that it matters, but it's the second time (in my life) that I hear the name "Rambo" (I'm not from an English-speaking country). So I'm curious, was her character created in the 80s and named Rambeau because Rambo was "in"? Or is Rambeau actually a common name?

I kind of always meant to ask the same thing. Never heard or read thename Rambeau anywhere before in my forty years on this Earth except for the phonetic similarity to a certain red bandana wearing ex-Green Beret.

I'm sure there are plenty of casual fans out there that think it's a tacky James Bond like goofy name for a character. When I heard it in Captain Marvel my first thought was "well that's silly".

Likely coincidence. Monica Rambeau first showed up in a Spider-Man comic published on August 31, 1982. The first Rambo film hit theaters on October 22, 1982. I suppose the creator of Rambeau could have seen a trailer for the film when writing the story earlier in 1982, or had read the book, which was published a decade prior, but I'm guessing it's a complete coincidence.

First Blood (Rambo) the book was written in 1972, for which the movie screenplay was based on. Therefore the comic book writer very well could have liked the character and written her in as an Easter Egg.

No, Monica "Never wrong" Rambeau is not related to 80s action hero John Rambo.

I find the pronunciation troubling. Since her first comics appearance I have read her name as "ram-BO", as the French pronunciation would be. The spelling is French. And she is nothing like John Rambo; those movies suck balls.
