Could a white actor take the lead role, and if not....why?

Would it affect ticket sales?
Could it be the right kind of 'gimmick' needed?
Would audiences stay away from it?

Skin-Colour (obviously) hasn't mattered with several reboots of late......So I'm genuinely interested to see how far 'diversity' goes in Hollywood?

Let's *try* have a sensible conversation about the pro's and cons of recasting Black Panther as a white man......

reply

Skin colour doesn't matter for reboots so long as they only "replace" white actors/characters.

It's a one-way street and NOBODY wants to open the can of worms that would involve going the other way.

Even this comment alone is sure to stir up the SJWs working tirelessly. lol.

reply

As you can see...it has.

Btw, you're right.

reply

The actor doesn't matter as much for a fictional char as long as they have a great story, plot, dialog, casting and its not diversity checkboxes for sake of it or ridiculous situations.

I don't see a problem with Black Panther being a white, brown or Asian character.

Wakanda would definitely be advanced enough to see past skin color and choose a ruler who fits them well. Imo say Captain America actor could be a great Black Panther too.

The person is more important than the color of their skin

reply

No, because being African is important to plot obviously. Please stop baiting.

reply

So...by that rationale...other roles (that get swapped from white-to-black...past, present and future) are equallly as (quote) "important" to the that particular skin colour/ethnicity?
I look forward to reading all your previous posts lambasting the (likewise) 'Blackwashing' on the message boards for:
Annie
James Bond
Dr Who
Anne Boleyn (cough, cough)
The Karate Kid
Ghostbusters
Dr Dolittle
The Wiz
The Equalizer
Etc
Etc

reply

Maybe if it's plot relevant. For example, I wouldn't expect a South African person to be cast for a movie about Scotland.

reply

So you have an obvious gripe with Denzel Washington, then?

reply

Its not even white. Troll them with "Could an asian actor take the lead role, and if not....why?" )))

And then see them go with: "Its about Africa and black people, you dummy. What asians have to do with it?"

Then same people will go to other thread and write how its completely fine with black being inserted into Europe history. Because dIvEsCItY ))))

reply

I don't know the demographics of Wakanda, but I don't think anyone in Wakanda is white?

reply

Martin Freeman as Everett Ross. Since he was in the thick of things with the Wakandians in Black Panther, and because it seemed that T'challa's sister might have had a little crushy crush on him, they could conceivably have him be the new Black Panther if they went in the white Black Panther direction. With a dose of the Super Soldier Serum and a mouthful of the newly regenerated Heart-Shaped Herb, and he'd be good to go. đź‘Ťđź‘Ť

reply

He would be "The White Wolf".

reply

I'm fairly sure that's Bucky.

reply

The demographics of Wakanda are fictional so there's no reason someone there couldn't be white.

reply

True, but chances are that the black panther would be black if the vast % of people are black. There could be a white black panther theoretically, the chances are just so low.

reply

The chances are fictional too, they are whatever the writers want them to be.

reply

True, a giant rainbow colored robotic dildo could be the next Black Panther

reply

Is that you Taika? Hey don't give Hollyweird more ideas!

reply

It would cause so much woke outrage that those people would die just so they could turn in their graves.

reply

Brad Pitt should play MLK.

reply

Either you're racist, or just like to start racist conversations

reply

Kevmill

OK then, I'm a racist...

Which (in turn) denies you of your inevitable (and only go-to) responsea, in which you accuse me of such anyhow (merely because I suggested that perhaps a white actor *could* play the 'Black panther') If you class my question as 'racism' then you've clearly lived a charmed life?

You (and people like you) have over-used the word 'racist' to saturation point were it has *zero* meaning anymore.

Your bullshit doesn't wash with me...So either give me your take on *why* you disagree with my question...or just fuck off (and try your 'race-card-bullshit' somewhere else) it isn't going to work with me.

reply

I pointed out before that your question is bullshit, and that you are clearly only asking it to start arguments, and you had no response. You know full well why it makes no sense to cast a white actor as the Black Panther. I have no way to know if you are a racist or not, but you're certainly either a troll or an asshole. Your rude response to Kevmill suggests the latter.

reply

Why does it not make sense to cast a white man as black panther (but OK for other movies to be remade with black actors) I get that you mightn't want it to happen...but I can't see why you'd think it doesn't make sense. As it stands, I believe they ended up casting a woman as 'Black Panther' this time around...the fact that you (clearly) have no problem with the gender switch (just as long as the woman is black) tells me everything I need to know about your agenda.
My reply to Kevmill is extended to you. (and others like you) who go through life demanding diversity and never seeing any problems with black remakes...but are quick to pull the race-card as soon as it's questioned/suggested that perhaps black roles could be recast with whites.

BTW take kevmill's dick out of your mouth and let him speak for himself...your white-knightery' (or would you prefer 'black-knightery'?) Isn't fooling anyone.

reply

Your reply underscores what I wrote. You don't want to discuss anything. You want arguments. You want to lash out and insult people. You know nothing about me or my beliefs, yet you have immediately assigned some sort of agenda to me, and have announced that you know everything about me and my thoughts. Is that what someone who wants, in your words, to "have a sensible conversation" does?

You're here to foment dissent and stir up rage by insulting people. Go away.

reply

No (fuck off race-grifter)
