This was interesting.
I liked it, for it's depth, really. it had something about it. Didn't go too hard, like Once were warriors, but still kept something in it. Lots of missed moments, via the tale itself, obviously, as it jumped a few timelines... and you're left with thinking, what would a pakeha really do, in this situation, with his family still there, in a culture of severe nefarious lifestyle based on poverty, injustice and neglect.
It did feel a little painted in some areas, as if the story needed some facade to keep it going, but all in all a good flick. Certainly not a OWW movie. No Jake for a start.
Ol' Aussie home and away boy did a good job of pulling off a few kiwi nuanced words. in his painted face years.
But, no underbelly was this. if you look it at it that way...
not bad, though.
