What ambiguous ending are people talking about?

I saw the movie and thought it was okay. Weak story, but great action. However, after seeing it I read online how people are debating the ending. Really? Chris Hemsworth character died, plain and simple. You don't get beat up as much as he did, get shot in the neck, fall in the water in a country where there is a manhunt for your head and come out alive. As for the person who appeared by the pool at the end? Probably a new bodyguard and just a random person. It was crazy some viewers thought it was Hemsworth's character.

Poozer, please see "the ending explained" thread just below. The OP is pretty spot on I think. It is partly the director's venal tendencies overcoming artistic integrity.

The blurry blonde figure by the pool was clearly intended to suggest the possibility that Tyler Rake survived and was not the kid's guardian. Probably in Australia.

I think it is a ridiculous suggestion because be was clearly identified by the Bangladeshi authorities and would be wanted for dozens of police/military murders, probably terrorism charges, firearms violations, destruction of property, etc., etc.

There is no way he could just go on living peacefully in Australia.

well... it is an action movie... they can always bring him back for a sequel... dead, but not-really-dead type of thing...
