Question For those watching 2nd season (SPOILER, SPOILER)

I thought the use of the frozen zombies was a pleasant surprise, but it seems a bit inconsistent - in the one segment they are frozen on the ground, but later there is the one that is still able to run around. Thoughts?

That occurred to me as well, but I figured an easy explanation is that some of them (for whatever reason) stopped moving/sat down, and eventually froze in place. Others kept running, and were able to keep moving. Shrug.

I know this is overthinking it, but I wonder in the creation of zombies like this, what exactly are the physiology capabilities of their bodies - for example, do their hearts still pump blood, and do their muscles function similar to the living. If not, then there should be rigor mortis that occurs after death and other body changes.

I guess one explanation could be that whatever they are afflicted with only causes the brain to function at a pure reptilian-fight-like level.

I used to amuse myself with these types of conjecture, but quickly realized it's bootless. You're absolutely right: as soon as you posit "whatever they are afflicted with," that's the ultimate handwave. You can assume it also eliminates rigor, maintains bioelectric efficiency, staves off decomp, etc, etc, etc.

It's worth noting that there are Always things the writers ignore/miss, even given that. . .but it's generally not worth nitpicking, FWIW. Maybe someday someone will care about the physics of it all, and address issues of fluid weight/energy maintenance etc. Until then we'll have to just squint and deal. . .

reply

I figured it was a particularly cold day (or time of day). So cold they couldn't move.
Once they defrosted a bit, I'm sure they got right back on their merry way.
