The wimpiest, ugliest Starship Captain ever ... why do a movie about him?

I think this will flop, because most Star Trek characters, outside of Spock and maybe Data are not deep and complex enough to support a whole story about. I never liked Picard, or the crew in TNG ... it was a bland and bloated show that was too politically correct. And the other thing I really detested was that idiot Q.

Cool story bro!

But seriously, Picard is probably the best Captain.

I never liked Sisko tho.

reply

Nobody likes a small idiosyncratic obnoxious know-it-all bald guy ... from France!
I rest my case.

reply

Wow! You make a compelling argument. Are you a barrister?

I agree with you about Q.

Irritating. Not entertaining.

Do you like any of the ST tv series?

reply

I loved the original series, but then I was like 9 when it came out. I was not put off so much by Enterprise or Voyager, but very few really memorable episodes. Can't say I really liked any of the follow-on series or the movies very much. TV has not gotten any more intelligent since then either. Star Trek was very progressive in it politics, and that was all dropped in anything after the original show ... I think on purpose.

I just remember watching The Next Generation with such anticipation, and episode after episode when by and they all put me to sleep. I liked the one episode where a probe took over Picard's mind and caused him to live in a virtual world with the people of a dying plant. I think called the flute, or the probe. 1 good episode in so many years though, just not good enough.

How about you?

reply

I thought TNG was mostly good after a rocky first series. Also loved Voyager at the time.

You gotta like the captains to like the series tho.

The new one, STD, is a steaming pile of @rse slurry. Every character is crap.

I'll see if they can get back to form with Picard but after STD my expectations are low.

The Orville was good.

reply

Discovery has nothing to do with Star Trek ... when I just stopped caring was after the "reboots" with Chris Pine ... they were revolting.

reply

Agreed!

He's 5'10", which is slightly above average for males (5'9"). As far as "small" goes, WHY have excess weight to hinder you?

Also, Picard was no wimp. If you think he was, you must not have seen many episodes or movies with him.

Concerning ugliness and baldness, he didn't seem to have a problem attracting ladies.
