shareCommunication protocols have checksums and error correction codes to detect and correct transmission errors. If an error can't be corrected at the receiving end the invalid data is simply retransmitted until all the received data is verified to be correct.
If space emails are like regular emails and don't contain checksums, then they could get corrupted in transit when stored temporarily in RAM at a relay station/satellite. Data corruption in RAM due to radiation, etc. happens on Earth too. But I'm sure space engineers know this and have already specified that space emails and relay stations use checksums and ECC RAM.
No, TCP/IP tunnels have error detection and correction, and if corrupted they would not be acknowledged and would re-transmit.
