Pretentious crap

and about an hour too long. Florence Pugh did put in a good performance though. She really has so many different looks, it's amazing.

You missed the point. Like any bad psychedelic trip, the movie length is meant to create anxiety, and relentlessness. You can't just get up, and walk away from a bad trip. You are stuck there, and have no choice but to deal with it.
Midsommar is one of the best films created in the last 20 years, and will be talked about at film schools for decades to come. Anyone who cannot appreciate Midsommar is dumber than a box of rocks. Midsommar covers the gamut of what great film making should be, and then some. Saying Midsommar is not great is like saying the sun is not great. or, like saying that calculus doesn't make sense. If someone said the life giving sun is not great, yes, that would make them wrong (and dead). Midsommar "transcends" my and your "opinion" about it. Get it now? What you think, what i think DOESN'T MATTER! It's like saying Mozart isn't great. If you really think Mozart isn't great, then let's see you do better?! You cannot because it's just great. People have tried for decades to do better, and could not. It's that black and white. Yes, some things in this world are just great whether you like it or not. Starting to get the picture yet? Yes!

Nah. The Lobster is #1. Midsommar doesn't come in the top 1000.

Except that it's just a modern day remake of the Wicker Man. It was alright, a bit too long though, but overall entertaining and worth at least one watch.

Plus, because of the length you aren't stuck, you CAN actually, get up, go to the loo and grab some munchies on the way back, and miss absolutely nothing! So maybe the length and foreshadowing does have its benefits.

reply

Exactly! I'd watch the Wickerman over this any day of the week.

I'd do it myself, but this recently made video blows your Midsommar is Wickerman argument out of the water:

I didn't say it was Wickerman. I said it was far inferior to Wickerman.

reply

Correct. Howgamer said it was Wicker man.

You are so right

@howgamer
You must have been home gaming, and missed the theater experience. There is no escape when watching Midsommar in the theater. You cannot pause the movie, etc.
I literally felt like I was on psychedelics coming out of the theater, and not just because of the trippy special effects. It's purposely long scenes "create" an anxiety, and just like the characters, you're trapped there, and cannot leave. This combined with the great music, psychological manipulation, and realistic atmosphere, makes Midsommar one of the most tripped out movies of all time!!! My teeth were grinding, and I had anxiety big time! Some people don't get this movie simply because they are too scared to ever take psychedelics (are you too scared to trip howgamer?), so they don't even get half of what this movie is all about, and just say it's too long. But, that is the whole point! You cannot just turn off a bad trip, and have to ride it out! Yes, anxiety, suspense, weirdness, and superb cinematography all combined to create such a special psychedelic experience that is Midsommar! So, put down the controller and Doritos for a night, and watch the Directors Cut all the way through or you are just not experiencing Midsommar as intended.

Although I disagree with your thoughts on this film, I love your response. The reference to Doritos was particular great and made me burst out laughing!
