'Midsommar' is in my Top 5 favourite films of 2019
Ari Aster's second feature isn't really a horror film; it's an ethreal, nauseous, funny and claustrophobic fable about family, the start and end of relationships, and processing grief. The less you assume going in, the more you'll appreciate it. You won't be scared - you'll be grabbed and shaken mercilessly. Beautifully filmed, with unique cinematography, trippy psychedelic visuals and a raw performance from Florence Pugh, perhaps the most horrific aspect of this movie is that it makes a creepy cult lifestyle seem slightly appealing.
