Moon Landing at 50: 10 Space Documentaries Commemorating The Mission’s Anniversary

This movie is the most popular and highly rated of the 10.

“Nova: Back to the Moon” is about future missions.
“8 Days: To the Moon and Back” is a reenactment with actual audio.
Other 7 don't look interesting. Anything else I should consider?

The two following Apollo documentaries are must see's in my opinion. Both are extremely well done with great footage, revealing astronaut stories, and awe inspiring music.

1. For All Mankind(1989) 80 Minutes. Directed by Al Reinert and nominated for an Academy Award for best Documentary.
2. In the Shadow of the Moon(2007) 100 Minutes. Directed by David Sington. Universally appraised.

Also an awesome addition is HBO's Emmy and Globe Award winning 12 part miniseries: From the Earth to the Moon.

The only one on that list that I've seen is actually Apollo 11. They left some good ones off.

PBS just recently aired Chasing The Moon, a 3 Part/6 Hour doc that was well-made and had a lot of info and footage that I had not seen anywhere else. This doc is a heavyweight. It can be streamed from PBS's website:

Nat Geo also aired Apollo: Missions to the Moon recently, as well as the two-part doc Apollo: Back to the Moon. I have watched Back to the Moon and it's pretty good. Missions was recommended by my dad and he said he really enjoyed it.

And lastly I'll mention When We Left Earth, which was made by the Discovery channel about 10 years ago and which is an overview of all the NASA missions. It's six episodes and the whole thing is available on DVD at an amazingly good price:
