Supid show and Ruby Rose leaving aside...why the red wig?

Those long fake red hair on the Batwoman costume looked awful. At least in the comic, she wears a mask and it's her actual hair that we see, while on the show, it's a closed hood, with a wig glued on top. Why not cast an actress with long hair or drop the big red hair and wear a bat hood? Were they afraid we wouldn't know whether it's Batman or Batwoman without long hair?

Karen Gillan could use work, and give her a chance to keep her hair long.

Um. . .no. In the comics, she wears a wig as well. What comic are you thinking of?

I always thought it was to make her look sexy in costume at least. Out of costume she is very ordinary to look at.

The wig is to hide her secret identity.

It would make more sense then, to use a natural hair color. Cops might be looking for a woman with long hair, and the batwoman actually has SHORT hair, or at least hair of the wrong color.
