Saving money on the cast ?

Seems like a B list cast. Good but not very good.

Who's acting is not good???

And WHY do you think that's the case???

Because, imo, Everyone's been doing a fine job portraying their characters.

HBO counted on Whedon's name to sell the show. There's no way such an expensive series would get greenlight without a star or two in the cast.

Aeryn from FARSCAPE is in it.

And she's also a BIG STAR or an actress who is VERY WELL KNOWN by SCI FI fans who watched that show.

Aeryn Sun | Farscape Encyclopedia Project | Fandom

Pre-Show

Born like most Peacekeepers – aboard a command carrier, Aeryn Sun was raised in a military life of rules and honor above all else. Raised to be a soldier and a Prowlerpilot, she was taught nothing of love, family, or what it meant ...

And that's what it looks like her mission is again in this show -- is to be some kind of a PEACEKEEPER again.

Literally no one heard of her outside nerd fandoms. You need a BIG NAME to make general audiences tune in.

Back when FARSCAPE was on the AIR this ACTRESS was a BIG NAME.

She was a HUGE STAR at that time and was probably also more famous than Carrie Fisher was as the PRINCESS in Star Wars.

Claudia Black | SGCommand | Fandom

And as you can see she also had another ROLE in STARGATE as well.

Claudia Black as Stripe

>>Taking on the role of Stripe in The Nevers is Claudia Black.

The 48-year-old Australian actress will be a familiar face to sci-fi fans as she has previously starred as Aeryn Sun in Farscape and Vala Mal Doran in Stargate SG-1.

More recently, Claudia has held roles in Netflix animation Final Space, Rick and Morty, The CW’s Containment and The Vampire Diaries spin-off The Originals.

Like many actors in the modern industry, Claudia Black is active on social media, most notably on Twitter, where she has a following

Complete and utter bullshit.

Try to remember how CARRIE made SW way back in the 70's (1977), so younger kids and other folks would also not have even been alive back then when she played the part of the PRINCESS.

But since FARSCAPE was made in the 90's (1999), that's why one would assume Claudia would have been better known than Carrie was at that time.

Farscape - Wikipedia

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Farscape

>>Farscape is an Australian-American science fiction television series, produced originally for the Nine Network. It premiered in the US on Sci-Fi Channel's SciFi Friday, March 19, 1999,

PLUS Claudia also isn't an AMERCIAN actress , and would probably be better known in the UK for that reason.

So it's also a matter of TIME and when Carrie made SW that's an issue here.

Because by the time FARSCAPE became a VERY POPULAR SCI FI SHOW (which also used MUPPETS), it was 22 YEARS later, or an ENTIRE GENERATION later than when SW had been made back in 77.

reply

I can't think of a single Whedon show that used big stars in the cast(before the show started I mean), and it's never been an issue. If the show is good and the actors are good, who cares if some A list TV star is in the cast or not.

I agree!!!

Many of the cast are well-known to viewers of UK tv and film. Many of them do a lot of stage work with RSC and others. As for acting ability, many trained at prestigious drama schools (RADA, RCS, “Oxbridge”) and have noms and won prestigious awards.
