Episode 2 was written by Jane Espenson, and it shows!
It seemed like an episode from Once Upon A Time with higher budget....but in a good way!

shareHaven't seen this other story called "Once Upon a Time."
What happens in it that reminds you of The Nevers???
Its a tv show about fables, very different by The Nevers (altough they are both shows with many female characters) but its the writing style of Jane Espenson that created this "Once Upon A Time effect" on this episode in my opinion. She tends to write about female friendship (Primerose and Myrtle),and about love (Augie and Pennance). And also likes to write sarcastic male characters like Hugo.
shareWhich character is HUGO???
Did a search of Jane's name and Found this TIME LINE that says this:
Timeline
2009:
In January 2009 it was announced that she had joined the spin-off series Caprica as co-executive producer and would take on showrunner duties midway through the first season.
I know Jane Espenson from Buffy and Once Upon A Time. By the way Hugo is Hugo Swann, the one friend of Augie who owns that secret brothel
shareOk. So Hugh is the RICH GUY who also owns the FERRYMAN's club where they have the SEX parties. Is that what you mean by referring to a secret brothel??
Because apparently his club and what goes on there also isn't a secret to the rest of the other RICH men who know him???
Yeah its him. I guess its not official but everyone knows about that club, you are right! I didnt remember the name of the club.
shareOne review points out how the name FERRYMAN is a play on PHEROMONE (the SEX HORMONE that we excrete to attract a mate).
So that's the reason why it was so easy to remember the name of it after having read what that review said about it.
Plus we also hear HUGH mention the name of it again in Ep. 2 (which I'd probably also not have paid attention to without having read the review).
Reviews can be very helpful in catching stuff that you've missed or overlooked.
Hugo, his name in the series is Hugo.
Hey I found you!
Here's my silly youtube video looking at Jane Espenson's style in this episode: https://youtu.be/E72tTE2u50E
Great analysis!
