Well that sucks big time. I was really excited for this because of Blomkamp directing but now I have bad feeling about the whole movie.
shareAgreed. I'm doubting it will even happen now as most of the appeal was it being Blompkamp doing it (wasn't he scripting too?).. unless they can get someone comparable like Duncan Jones or Darren Aronfsky (who was once attached to the remake) or what about Paul Verhovan?!! but if they get a Paul WS Anderson it'll be a waste of time and may as well stay dead
hopefully Blomkamp might back on Alien 5 now though (the timing would seem right as Disney are probably looking to start on a new Alien film)
I think S. Craig Zahler could probably do a bang up job as well. Maybe even Matthew Vaughn.
shareThank fucking Lord that hack is leaving this project. I can't imagine how bland, safe, and politically correct he would've turned the supposed "satire" into.
Now all we've got to do is send a truck full of cash to Paul Verhoeven's house, and get his ass in the director's chair once again.
Man, what a flaky guy. It's almost like a death kiss if he is involved in a movie.
Alien 5? Probably cancelled.
Robocop Returns? Left it, and probably will be canned.
District 9 sequel? There is a heavy hint right in the movie, but never happened.
The Gone World? Probably in development hell since he moved on to work on the Robocop sequel (that he left...)
maybe studios just don't fancy pressing ahead with anything after the likes of Elysium and Chappie.
