Recently Watched

Honestly, I was unimpressed by Awkwafina. She had just one expression throughout the film and what's with her perpetually hunched shoulders? She's better here than in Crazy Rich Asians, in which I found her unbearable, but by toning down her extrovert personality she came closer to being catatonic.

The film is perfectly watchable but felt derivative and I only laughed once (the cigarette moment during the grave scene). 5/10

I'm not Chinese or even Asian at all, but this movie is so well made that we can see our family members and ourselves in all of these people.

Might be the best movie I've seen in 2019.

I agree, 8/10. Interestingly, I was in China and Japan in 2018, so perhaps not too far from the time this was filmed.
