So this is pretty much a rehash of Gallipoli?

From the early 80s with Mel Gibson. The plot seems similar anyway. Basically 2 runners are recruited to the war, and 1 of them is tasked with delivering a message to end the slaughter.

Seems similar, but they thought the movie was so long ago that nobody would remember.

It does call to mind the final act of Gallipoli but in this case that’s the entire movie. Of course, Northern France is a very different location from the Dardanelles so the similarities begin and end with the period.

It’s not quite as good as Gallipoli but it’s a fine film on its own terms, and well worth seeing.
