Blade Runner 2049 Lite
The movie does a good job emulating the look and feel of Blade Runner. Nice mood lighting, grotty city streets populated by low lifes, smoky interiors, even the ambient soundtrack is a nice touch.
But the standard issue yellow cabs reveal the movie's limited budget... no Spinners here. No omnipresent rain either. If you look carefully, you'll see that the few pedestrians wandering the mean streets during the night scenes are the same people scene after scene.
Scriptwise though, it's about 30 minutes of story jammed into 90 plus minutes. The movie doesn't do any sort of deep dive into the nature of humanity like the BR movies did. Instead it's more or less a straight cop procedural that moves at a snail's pace.
Can't recommend.
