The first episode doesn’t spare us any of the horrors of slavery. Rightfully so. This show is dark and dirty. Cora, our heroine, is never given a moment of peace or happiness. There are no “kindly” masters. There is no goodwill, just greed, avarice, and ignorance. There’s a supernatural element at the end of the episode that promises a possibility of escape?

I just placed this on my future watch list. It sounds interesting.

It’s excellent. It’s not an easy show to watch. It definitely doesn’t minimize the horrors of the time period. The actors are absolutely pitch perfect.
