Soooo... now he can't tell if someone is lying to him and mistakenly calls Leia by her right name by mistake in the transport? I get that maybe he hasn't be practicing with Force manipulation, but that shouldn't make him stupid or take away even basic Jedi skills.
It's been ten years during which he's been wallowing in the despair of having failed Anakin and lost the entire Republic. I can buy it.
Then, to make matters worse, he learns Anakin/Vader is still alive, giving Obi-Wan another major fuck-up to feel awful about.
I'll admit, it's jarring to see the "perfect Jedi" in such a state, but I'm absolutely certain this series will show him finding himself again.
At which point, I fully expect to see Obi Wan majorly whaling on Vader so bad it'll take Vader ANOTHER ten years just to convince himself he's a "master" once again.
It's almost too predictable that Obi Wan's last line to Vader in this show (and it BETTER happen this season) will be something along the lines of, "you've still got a LOT to learn you little bitch!" Only he'd say it much more politely.
What was he supposed to be doing on Tatooine? *Protecting* Luke. Hell, he can barely protect HIMSELF FFS!!! What EXACTLY was he going to do if the Inquisitors or Vader himself actually found Luke? Get tossed around some more like, to use your term, a little bitch? To protect someone, you have to have some MEANS of protecting them. He has a few hand-to-hand skills left and that's about it. Plus we're supposed to believe that he was a) one of the greatest Jedi and b) in just a few short years at the time of ANH, he'll have all his powers back and be able to go head-to-head with Vader instead of being laughably tossed around like a rag doll? Plus why didn't Vader just Force-choke him to death? And Vader and the stormtroopers are scared off by a little oil fire? The Rebellion would for sure have been a lot quicker and more successful if they'd known THAT! Just throw a couple Molotov cocktails in the ol' backpack and you're pretty much guaranteed to get out of any jam. :^D
The logical inconsistencies are just too many and too obvious.
Why would ANYONE send a powerless and bumbling incompetent to rescue their kidnapped daughter (and who is supposed to be protecting Luke while he's gone)? Obi-wan has enough Force sensitivity to tell Vader is nearby but not enough to tell whether someone is lying? I could go on and on....
I get that maybe he hasn't be practicing with Force manipulation...
Problem is that the show seems to suggest quite heavily that he's been using the force to communicate with Qui-Gon (cameo definitely in the post for Episode 6) whilst simultaneously requiring us to believe he hasn't been dabbling with the force at all, which is why he's turned into a moron. So which is it?
And you're right - that bit when he called Leia by name was facepalmingly bad.

I think the show has implied that he has been trying but failing to communicate with Qui Gon, I think that communication will reach a success in the last episode when he confronts Vader again.
Quite possibly - it's all that's left that could possibly rescue the show at this point...
However if he's been trying, what's he been using while he's trying?
... Actually I hope that isn't the case. Pretty poor if he's been trying to do it for ten years. Yoda had it cracked in a plot hole fixing five minutes at the end of ROTS!
Definitely with the basic skills I like to think once you have learned a skill you never forget, you know do or do not there is no try ! When it comes to the force.
