So you have the inquisitors and regardless off the ethnicity of their actors are all shown in makeup and constumes that show them as being for other worlds and such.
Then you have Reva who instead of being alien, has character attributes that seem to be ... African American female????? Like because she is a black actress that's 'good enough' and there's no need for a costume?
Two of them are pale WHITE (no surprises there) and the other is what, yellow?
Are Disney FUCKING RACIST????
Can't believe that a poc actress would be treated this way in a fictional story in a galaxy far far away where the possibilities are limitless. It's meant to be 2022 for fucks sake!
Did Darth Vader's dark costume represent black people? Granted, he is voiced by an African American actor, so does that mean he was representing African-Americans in some way? Because that's what some commentators complaining about back in 1977. You're also forgetting the Asian actor playing one of the Inquisitors who is in "white face". Don't forget to add that to your specious claims of racism. At least she is an actual African-American, not a Brit like John Boyega pretending to be one. There must be something racist there too. Voice-ist, anyway.
The Asian actor is in makeup as if they are from an alien race (not to be a human caucasian) ... Reva has no makeup, as if to say that her skin colour can be used as her 'character' instead.
And you missed my point. Why does she need to be in make up? You seem to imply that every dark- or light-skinned character (whether human or not) is making some sort of political statement. I was arguing ad absurdum about "white-washing". Someone whining about "white washing" of the Asian actor (if someone were to take this stupid claim up) is just as dumb as harping on the skin-color of Reva's character. Is your issue that she is the only human Inquisitor, or the fact she is a dark-skinned Inquisitor? And why would you assume the whiteness of the skin of the other alien Inquisitors was some sort of "message"? Besides, the one female Inquisitor was actually green and she was acting angry as well. Maybe Inquisitors are just various flavors of angry? I personally don't think she is playing "black", and her angry persona might be a function of her character
I'm a little annoyed the story-tellers are being so coy and stringing us along, but that's the downside serialized franchise story-telling for you. They're making it more complicated than it needs to be. I don't find her or the other Inquisitors all that interesting considering we've got Leia, Luka and Kenobi to worry about. Since they've clearly opted to say "screw canon" and have Darth as the main villain anyway, I don't see why the Inquisitors are really all that important. Legitimate arguments could be made about the place of Inquisitors in the story and how this might foul up canon and so forth.
I'm a fan of and respect the actress. I just don't like seeing her exploited and genuinely believe she deserves to play a proper, organic and fleshed out character instead of a caricature.
