Blood Moon

There is something that doesn't quite add up here, and I am not sure if it was intentional or the unfortunate result of how little we know of Luna's father and what exactly transpired on the fateful day he broke out of his cage... but. Here's the thing.

We see Luna's true form is that of a regularly sized wolf (truly astounding he was able to maul the entire police department) and must assume his father was the same. This is not some freaky-looking creature that would shock someone enough to shot at it on sight, no questions asked, neither is its behaviour so alien as to be impossible to read. So.

Esme reacts to Luna's totally non-threatening behaviour by training her gun on him and looks absolutely panicked and ready to pull the trigger even when, once again, this wolf isn't exhibiting ANY signs of hostility towards HER. It seems he recognizes her (familiar smell?) even if he isn't fully conscious while in this form. Why would his father be any different?

It seems more and more likely that Esme reacted out of blind fear and murdered her husband when he wasn't ever going to attack her. Which... oof. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since watching the episode. I wonder if this experience with Luna shed some new light on that day for her.

I have to admit I was very disappointed in this movie. I LOVE werewolf movies but this was just awful. I loved the suspense and the build up but the "werewolf" looking almost like a pet dog was so stupid. And you are right, because of that it made NO sense whatsoever for any of the police to start shooting.

I suppose one could say they (including mom) acted as such because they watch the boy transform into the wolf which would make sense but even so, he looked harmless.

I can only guess that maybe as he matures his wolf form will grow as well and perhaps his blood lust along with it and therefore make him much more dangerous, as his father was said to be.
