Fairly good movie but… Spoilers

Again topic says spoilers so don’t read if you haven’t watched

At the end they hint that the witch has inhabited Mallory’s body. This makes no sense though, doesn’t it? She was the one that threw salt in the witches face at the end so, at that point in time, she couldn’t have been inhabited. Are we supposed to believe they burned the tree, killing the witch but there is another one out there? We never got a hint that there might be more than one in the film. Any guesses?

Just saw it and was loving the happy ending until the last second when it hinted Mallory was taken over. Like you, I do not see how that could have happened. Mallory turned around at the tree for just a second or two, certainly not enough time to become possessed. Not to mention, the salt was between them, around the tree, so the witch couldn't have come out.

I think it was very poor writing and not necessary to hint that she was possessed. Stupid way to end an otherwise good movie.

I agree completely. I really enjoyed the film except that last bit. Glad to hear that I wasn’t the only one who was confused by that ending.
