Great series dumb ending

In The first 4 episodes a good mystery unfolded. The reveal of the first killer was a bit underwhelming. The motive was interesting and made sense. Even having multiple killers worked pretty good.
Then the last minute cliched twist undid everything and made no sense.

I would frame it a bit differently, I thought the series itself was rather boring. The characters were not compelling, their relationships were boring - only there to drive the very contrived mystery, and the only thing I thought was clever or unique about it was the twist ending ... which was so short compared to the length of the miniseries. I am not sure in what way you think the ending did not make sense. It may have been improbably, but it was tied up nicely in a surprise bow of an ending, which really did not make the series any better, but least showed why it was the way it was.

You hate watched the whole thing even though you were bored????
Anyway, who was the woman on the other end of the radio helping the killer out? It looked like the dead mother, but that wouldnt make sense, because why kill everyone if the mother is alive. Why did the scientist hang himself if he is not the killer? Why did the girl hide in the cupboard if the only other survivor was trapped in the tunnels?
This is more of a nitpick than confusion but: if a scientist going on an expedition gets killed in a hit and run, then the police would investigate the alternates or at least consider them a suspect.
If they fleshed it out a bit more, maybe i would have liked it, but this just didnt do it for me.

the girl on the other end was the sister (Sarah Jackson's other daughter). he hung himself because his career was over. he killed Sarah Jackson and covered it up, that was going to be exposed, even if he could prove he didn't kill anybody else. she didn't hide in the cupboard until the other people arrived. she just said she hid there to go along with her distraught mental state.

overall I felt that the series was ok. the trouble with many of these shows is that they all have a twist so at some point you know that it is coming so it really isn't exciting. also, by having Maggie kill Aki it makes her no better than the ones she was killing. kind of takes away the sympathy/justification feelings you had for her.
