After finishing season 1, thought not as good as Vienna Blood, another recent historical mystery program.
Miss Scarlet can be kind of hypocritical, continually complaining about others doing things that she does herself.
Would have liked a bit more novelty in the storylines. Some period science maybe or other things more closely connected with the period.
So many rooms seem draped in a sort of haze. They're really overly enamored of that effect.
Some of the sets remind me of the ones from Dickensian. Wonder if they're re-using them.
Seemed odd that they never mention what year it is. In the mid-1880s I guess, but not really sure.
Would like to see the two principal characters drawn in a little more depth. A bit two-dimensional still.
By the way, how can they have grown up together when he clearly comes from Scotland and she does not?
Some of the villains are a little too easy to predict, especially in the two-part finale.
It was good to see Bonnie Prince Charlie from Outlander turn up here. His character (Rupert Parker) may be the most interesting one in the show, actually. The actor probably needs to get his own series.
