A bit of a misfire. Standard beats that needed a better cast. But it's a hard thing to pull off without turning it into a full-blown musical. Maybe it would work better on stage that way. But aside from a few moments, it didn't work as a film for me. I'm not surprised that it never really caught on with audiences.
