How would you react if you found out everything you do in life is deterministic and you have no free will. You would found out your life is meaningless and you are just an spectator of your own life. That's pretty shocking. Seeing images of the future is just the byproduct.

Seeing that, so he knew the magnitude of what he was stealing. Plus the nerves/fear of his assignment, especially considering how secure and secretive the place turned out to be.
