Episode 14 - framerate motion

Did anyone else notice the weird framerate - it seemed like it was 48/60 fps rather then a standard 24 fps - just like the hobbit - it made some of scenes look fast/fake rather then that the slow transition motion.

I think that is just Rodriguez' directing style of shooting handheld that was clashing with things.

it was a really good episode but the sped/fakeness effect in the things really ruined that gritty look like the rest of the episodes.

I doubt any streaming service has 48/60. Certainly not be default.

no, it wasn't the actual framerate was high but the way it was filmed and then converted i think, could of been a different recording or capture method.

like the hobbit even if you watched it in standard framerate, you notice when people were running or fighting it seemed it was sped-up, this was the same the fighting motion wasn't at normal speed it was sped-up on bits and the movement was jerky.

Most people won't notice it but me i can tell alot of subtle things and this was one - its like when you streaming and the stream stops because of slow broadband speed and then you suddenly get your internet back and the program speeds the part you missed up to catch-up, this was like it to me but on a very smaller scale.

I disliked the way the scene vs the stormtroopers was shot.

Also previous episode's lightsaber duel was lacking 'something', I don't know if it was the choreography or the way it was shot but it felt kinda 'meh'.

I think it was missing that extra bit of grittyness edge the previous episodes had and it seemed abit cartoonish the fighting.

The open space and maybe using drone camera to record around didnt help, plus they could have slowed down the stormtrooper attack as it seemed they suddenly arrive and suddenly attack and then suddenly leave it was all rushed but that had to do with the shows limited runtime.

Funny, but that was one of the many things I loved about this masterful episode. I noticed it right away in the action scenes, only it didn’t take me out of the show at all. On the contrary, I thought it was fairly effective (detected no fakeness whatsoever). Yup.

Although, I’m certain this is something I’ve noticed/is common in a number of action films (some do it better than others), including in Rodriguez’s own work. Perhaps I’m simply used to it. Even so, I found this supposed weird frame rate refreshing but incredibly cool - and again, genuinely effective - to see in this particularly thrilling and visceral Mandalorian episode. Overall, Rodriguez (a perfect fit for Mando) in my book couldn’t have done a better job with this episode; this episode had it all and the action was well-structured and just expectedly on another level. Different strokes...

i have no doubt this was one the best episodes but that was a little bug bear for me i prefer the normal action rather then the sped up action it just took me out, otherwise the content of the episode i loved.

each director has there own method and i'm thinking Rodriguez unique filming style suits the grindhouse/sin city movies, but this didn't workout in my case for the episode.
