So happy they put so much focus on race in this movie

As we all know, The Sopranos was largely focused on the trials and tribulations of the black community, so it felt very important to spend half the movie on this. I mean, we've been away from these characters for so long and likely won't ever get to see them again, so, it's good that such a hefty portion of our short 2-hour reunion with them should be devoted to this. Not to mention, race and the history of racism in America, obviously, is a topic that's so rarely spoken about in movies or TV shows (especially these days) so it's great that they decided to shine some awareness on the topic as opposed to strictly focusing on the origins of the Soprano crime family.

Even being a subplot about race, it was all still extremely confusing and made no sense. Of course, race should've had absolutely nothing to do with this movie. This movie should've been about the Italian mafia. Simple as that. But even interjecting race into the story did nothing for subject matter...cause nothing in this movie made sense. So it was all really pointless.

Well it’s unfortunate that is all you got out of this.

Most of the characters were ones we didn’t know before as it took place decades before the shows premiere.

All the characters it focused on had important parts to the story 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yeah because race relations and assimilation were never a theme of the series nor were the Newark riots ever seen in flashbacks... 🤪

Nice to see this place hasn't changed from largely being 4Chan with a film board.

Yea, the race aspect of this movie was its strength. For this reason, this movie succeeds more so than the Sopranos series itself

reply

Like we don't have enough of that already, with it constantly shoved in people's faces 24/7.

I remember the scene with the black power beat poetry and my eyes rolling back in my head. Not even halfway through the movie it was not hitting on any hood notes and by the end I was beyond bored. I was gutted as this is a movie was one I really looked forward to

I’m sensing a smidge of sarcasm. 🤔
