Who played old John Lennon?

That was a sweet surprise. At least a positive aspect of the Beatles not becoming a huge band after the blackout is John Lennon getting to live a full life. Anyone know who played him? I don't see a name listed in the credits online.

When the door on that little house opened my jaw dropped. That actor looked EXACTLY what I'd imagine (!) Lennon looking like in old age. There is no mention of that character on IMDB.

Also, apparently Ringo had a cameo or small roll in this, according to IMDB. Missed that.

I believe it was the real John Lennon. As you may recall, he faked his death some years ago. The Beatle that you are thinking of who died is Paul McCartney, who passed in 1966. The other three are alive and well, and still tour on occasion. I caught them in 2015, and highly recommend their live show.

LMAO!

Ah, yes, I did indeed forget that.

IMDB is listing someone as playing Ringo, not Ringo being in it.

I guess it was one of the guy's whose feet were shown on Corden's show.

reply

Ah, right! My bad.

But I must've missed that, too. Where was the character of Ringo? I doubt it was just the feet scene in Jack's dream, but if so why didn't they credit someone for portraying Paul's bare feet?

Do you think there are subtle "appearances" by Paul and George, too? That would've been cool to include, if they didn't.

It was Robert Carlyle, though I don't think he was aged enough to look like a 78 year old Lennon. Had the same question about not crediting an actor to play Paul if one was credited to play Ringo.

reply

Same here! My jaw dropped, and I grabbed my sister's arm when he opened the door. It really did look exactly like him!! I had thought maybe Jack was going to visit Paul or Ringo up until that moment. That was quite the surprise!
I had wondered if Ringo was their waiter in one scene. It was a man with a beard and glasses, but he didn't say much. I think I'm going to go to IMDB and look now.
Also, when John mentioned he loved one woman his whole life, I really wanted Jack to ask what her name was. It wouldn't be Yoko if The Beatles never happened, so perhaps Cynthia (unless that changed too).

reply

I think it was Robert Carlyle, who played Begbie in Trainspotting. He certainly looked like Lennon.

Looked like the dad from 28 Weeks later. The one that left his idiot wife to die and outran a horde of zombies.

reply

It was an uncredited Robert Carlyle.

I told y'all

When Jack asks "Were you successful?" and John replies: "I'm happy. Happiness is success". . . the most inspiring line I've heard in a movie all year, and then some!

reply

It's definitely Robert Carlyle.

It was a brilliant scene. Unfortunately I kept thinking he looked like Jimmy Savlie.
