I don't really like that song.
Never understood why it was such a hit. The Beatles had a great many better songs.

shareSame here. If I woke up tomorrow and discovered everyone had forgotten about the Beatles, Yesterday is a song I would be keeping to myself. To begin with.
shareThis might be arguable as well... but it works as the title for this movie, in my book. I like it.
shareWait !! Of course the Beatles had a great many better songs, but Yesterday is a gem unto itself. Here's the usually ebullient Paul being introspective and sad. Huh? Where'd this come from? You say Yes, I say No, You say Stop and I say Go, Go, Go!
You say Goodbye, and I say Hello !
Yesterday, love was such an easy game to play. Now I need a place to hide away. O', I believe in yesterday.
It has to do with the plot. The person in the movie will eventually yearn for "yesterday", before he tried to take credit for all that music, before things got out of hand.
shareThe Beatles had better songs, but "Yesterday" is one of the best, and compared to any popular song of the past few decades it's a masterpiece.
shareI agree, but then again most of my favorite Beatles songs would not by any means, be considered amongst their most well known or mainstream. I like We Can Work it Out, Help, She's So Heavy, etc. Yesterday is very sweet though...
shareJacob, to me “don’t really like” is vague and covers too wide a ground.
To me there are 5 categories for feelings toward a song.
Love.
Like.
Don’t care either way.
Dislike.
Hate.
“Don’t really like” falls into the bottom three depending on your true feeling.
Which are you in regards to “Yesterday”?
The Beatles was a thing. I look back on it now and they had a few great songs and a lot of really good ones, they had style, they were there, the first, at the thing, the British invasion, and they were publicly acceptable for the most part, until John made his more popular than Jesus blurt. Then they went their ways. Yesterday was not my favorite song either, in fact I am not sure what my favorite Beatle song would even be any more. Maybe Love Me Do, Paperback Writer ... some of those old songs that come back and I find myself humming for no reason.
shareWho were the Beatles? Just like the movie points out, they never existed
