Great Lead Actors Compensate for Formulaic Plot
The beginning feels too familiar but stick with it, the six episodes are worth it!
Noel Clarke and Ashley Walters have *phenomenal* chemistry. Usually, it takes at least season for a cast to gel and seem as if they are an organic group. Clarke and Walters make me believe that Bishop and Pike have the rich, complex history that makes friends brothers.
We've seen this all before, the partner with the smart, pretty wife and bright kids and stable home life and the other partner who is a randy, single and takes a more swashbuckling approach to police work. toss in the wacky crew in the squad room and you have just about every two cop TV show ever (Cagney and Lacey, Morse, even comedies like Barney Miller).
But the lead and support cast generates enough heat to breathe new life into this hoary old premise. I can 't wait until season 2.
