Difficult to watch....

I've been watching Eastwood movies for almost all my life. I remember getting the weekly tv guide in the local paper and going through the movies to see which ones would be on TV and loved it when his spaghetti westerns would show up along with his other ones.

The Mule is tough to watch because long time fans realize this could be his last movie and seeing him so frail and elderly when we all remember how active and physical he was in movies like The Eiger Sanction and the like. Or the TV show Rawhide.

I really wish he would write a memoir. Not a spill the beans tell-all sort of thing, but one where he really tells the progression of his life and his experiences.

I see it as quite brave.

There are numerous male actors who go into hiding when they reach advanced old age, preferring people to remember them when they were in their prime.

Eastwood shows some mental toughness, a lifelong physical actor who is not afraid of showing the arc of life and advanced old age.

You missed my point - it's like watching the end of something larger than an era. Like seeing the last hurrah of someone in real-time while remembering how it all started.

In lifetimes it is true how people will not see certain things more than once in a lifetime.

And take The Mule for another example - in the past fans of Eastwood movies know that if his character had been younger he would have dealt with his employers on that dirt road differently. But like in life, Eastwood's character knows he is too elderly, frail, and powerless to do anything about his mistreatment and must tolerate it. In a way, his role in this movie is like an encapsulation of his Hollywood career and is ending like all things in life will - from young, vibrant, and ever-moving to elderly and slow collapse.

And some of us have been able to see the entire thing as it unfolded. Hope that clears thing up.....

At least he wasn't talking to a chair.

Ah, the arrival of the troll and juvenile asinine comments.....

Oh, he didn't talk to a chair?

With AI and deepfake, maybe they can edit the movie so that Dirty Harry is the one who catches the mule in the end (and takes out the whole cartel).
