Why didn't they break window to exit basement when MA was nearly killing them?

Grab a chair, throw it through the window, break most of the glass out of the way and GIT OUTTA THERE! Seemed so obvious to me. Yeah, at one point it was shown window was a little reinforced with some boards at corner so it couldn't easily be opened, but it could have been broken out.

They were in the basement with all these tool-ish things. Someone could’ve found something to pull the board off. At that point, I do think Maggie was the only one not falling from the diazepam though.
